What would an environmental law society be without a little exposure to the natural environment of the Northeast? While it's easy to forget when surrounded on all sides by buildings, there are actually some beautiful spots for hiking not far outside the city. See our photos online at Flickr.

Of course, we need some adventurous members to plan some trips into the wilderness. That's where ELS Outdoors steps in.

Some upcoming outdoors events:

1. Apple Picking, Date TBA
   We will take a Metro North train to a local apple orchard (to be decided). Subsidized transportation will be available.
2. Oktoberfest at Bear Mountain, Saturday October 10
   We'll take a morning bus to Bear Mountain State Park. There are several trails available, including a hike up to the summit to see the spectacular vista of fall colors. We'll end the day with Oktoberfest festivities at the park.
3. Appalachian Trail Overnight Trip, Date TBA
   The Appalachian Trail runs through Bear Mountain State Park. If there is sufficient interest a group can head down the AT from Bear Mountain (before or after Oktoberfest festivities), camp for the night, then take the bus back the next day.
