"I should start by telling you that I am a hotel snob. I am VERY picky about hotels. But, my daughter planned a trip to Big Bear and she was on a budget, and insisted she pay for the hotel. So... I was concerned that we were staying in a "budget" hotel, but resigned myself that, as long as it was clean, I'd suffer through. It's a Rodeway Inn, so I honestly was not expecting much. I figured I'd deal with a "2 star or less" hotel for one night, and I'd survive. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We had a 1 bedroom suite that was actually quite nice - a bit crowded, but all in all, very cute. The entire suite was very clean. The décor is very Big Bear (i.e., country rustic). The front room had a small refrig, microwave, sink and dishes, etc. (no stovetop), big Jacuzzi tub with a fireplace next to it, futon sofa, coffee table and side chair. "This house was perfect for two families. It had two masters and a large bedroom that had four beds for kids. A nice large kitchen, large dining room table and family room with cable and Roku. The detached garage was a mancave with pool table, foos ball table, air hockey, etc. that kept the kids plen ty entertained. They had a large jacuzzi too but we didn't use it. The house was a 5 minute short walk to the base of Bear Mountain. We had a wonderful getaway here and would recommend it to family and friends. More >

"My family stayed in lucky cabin #13 and it was awesome. There's only 4 of us but it sleeps up to 8. The best thing for desert dwellers like us was the central heating because it was c-o-o-o-o-ld in Big Bear! The cabin stayed warm and the shower had plenty of hot water as well. There's hooks on the w all as you walk in to hang your heavy winter gear, a coffee table and a dining table that our 5 year old used to color on, plenty of outlets so my tween could plug in all of her tech and wifi (although the wifi was sometimes a bit dodgy, you just had to re-enter the password and it was fine), a fireplace, a large flat screen tv and DVD player, an elevated queen bed as well as two separate bedrooms with queen beds. The cabin has a full kitchen with everything you need to cook, but we brought our french press and just boiled water with a pot although there is a small coffee maker as well as a full fridge and full stove. Richard and Peggy are really cool, Richard oriented us with a map and gave... More >
