Last week’s snow combined with snowmaking efforts at Bear Mountain accumulated enough snow to open Chair 9 just in time for Thanksgiving. I give praise and thanks to Bear for opening sooner than later, because I was starting to get a really bad itch for some riding. Now that Bear is open I plan carve the mountain to get my fix!
And what is all this fuss about Black Friday? Forget about Black Friday; Big Bear has White Friday! Big Bear is giving you an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the crowded shopping malls by offering a place that’s fun and exciting. Do yourself a favor and avoid Black Friday, and instead come up to enjoy the snow in Big Bear where we celebrate White Friday! The good news is early season rates are in effect. So I stress once again why waste your time shopping on Black Friday when you could get the real deal on the slopes in Big Bear this Friday, otherwise known as White Friday. Let’s says for some reason you can’t make it on Friday. Well guess what? Big Bear also celebrates White Saturday and White Sunday too.
There is going to be a lot of buzz going on the mountain from opening day to Sunday. If you get a chance to head up on opening day you’re in for a treat. DJ SlipMatt will be spinning and getting real with it! There are Red Bull drink specials and those guys from Neff will be giving away some killer giveaways!
The best part of course is Chair 9 is open from top to bottom with four jumps and 23 jibs all on intermediate to advanced terrain (beginner terrain will be coming soon). Remember Chair 9 is a high-speed quad express lift, so getting a ride to the top is a breeze. I do suggest you get to get your lift ticket early, because Bear is selling a limited amount of tickets this weekend due to limited terrain. In fact, you can now purchase your lift ticket before you get to Bear, and sign your waiver online. It’s wise to get your tickets in advance so you can spend more time on the mountain riding.
Other good news is it’s just a matter of time before Snow Summit opens for the season. If weather cooperates in the next couple of nights we should see an aggressive snowmaking effort from Snow Summit to get Chair 1 or Chair 2 open for the season. Stay tuned.
Another note is to take advantage of ! This Monday, December 2 you’ll get 20% off on anything you purchase online at Snow Summit or Bear Mountain including lift tickets, lessons, and rentals.
It’s a great time of year in Big Bear! There is snow on the mountains and great deals are happening. Also, be sure to check out lift and lodging packages with deals that include lift tickets combined with lodging starting as low as $69. Check it out!
